    Team Development Programs

“A team is a small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable.”

    Katzenbach & Smith

Our work has become more specialised and complex. This complexity means that the ability of individuals to work cohesively and effectively as part of a group is more important than ever. Globalisation has meant that many factors that historically enabled unique value creation are now ubiquitous, with organisations having the same access to resources, such as technology, equipment and social networks. Today, our people and how well they work together is the new frontier of competitive advantage.

Based on decades of research and experience, our Team Development Programs support workgroups to build the foundations and relationships for exceptional team performance, including:

    1. A clear and compelling purpose.
    2. Capable people in the right role who can leverage their strengths.
    3. A culture that guides expectations around ‘the way we work here’.

PVW Partners facilitates engaging and practical workshops. These workshops support leaders and teams to build the foundations for high performance by helping them to:

    • Develop a clear and compelling purpose: Purpose connects the team to its reason for being. The purpose should be aspirational and worthy of each person’s best effort. Measures of success are defined, and the team holds itself mutually accountable for the results.
    • Establish a shared way of working together: This process articulates explicit groups norm that will enable interpersonal effectiveness and create an achievement orientation. At a fundamental level, high-performing teams are characterised by group cultures where people feel safe. Safety is created by behavioural expectations, which are consistently demonstrated as they relate to factors such as interpersonal communication, decision-making, and performance feedback.
    • Build bench strength and recognise individual contributions: High-performing teams value diversity and focus on people’s strengths rather than limitations; people perform best when they get to contribute and are recognised in a way that reflects their talents. Through a greater understanding of how individuals prefer to contribute and inter-relate, the team can:
      • Enhance their understanding of working relationships.
      • Better leverage team strengths.
      • Improve team functionality.
      • Identify team gaps that may impact performance.
      • Strengthen team interactions and outcomes.
